ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS


Potential students must have a genuine interest in Hairdressing and Cosmetology. Admission requires a high school diploma or a GED. Non-high school graduates must demonstrate their ability to benefit from this course of instruction by passing an entrance exam. All applicants are required to take an aptitude test.

GRADING AND GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS


Grades are ranked as follows:
100 to 90 A
89 to 80 B
79 to 70 C
C is the minimum passing grade
Training is divided into levels of achievement –
Pre-clinic
Intermediate
Junior
Senior
Students must make satisfactory progress, i.e. complete required hours for each level and have a minimum GPA of 70, in order to progress to the next level.
To graduate you must fulfill these four requirements:
Satisfactory completion of proscribed training 1500 hours
Satisfactory completion of all theory and practical assignments
Successfully complete final exam
Fulfill financial obligation to the school

QUALIFICATION FOR OBTAINING STATE BOARD LICENSE


To qualify for state certification as a licensed hairdresser and cosmetologist, you must fulfill these six requirements:
Satisfactory completion of proscribed 1500 training hours
Satisfactory completion of high school or GED
Affidavit signed by the Director of DUSHC
Payment of a $50 fee
Completely filled out Application for State Board Exam, signed and notarized with a colored passport photograph
